⚠️ Warning: Graphic Content ⚠️ Attention deer hunters! 🦌 DEC and the Department of Agriculture and Markets detected Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in a captive deer facility located in southern Herkimer County. CWD is an always-fatal disease of deer that threatens New York’s white-tailed deer and moose populations. When introduced into wild deer, CWD can spread rapidly, is nearly impossible to eliminate, and threatens future deer hunting opportunities. While there is no evidence that CWD is pres
