When Stranger Things first premiered in 2016, it wore its many ’80s influences on its sleeve. That nostalgia still permeates the fifth and final season, but nearly a decade later, the rollout of its grand finale felt distinctly modern — and that included the messy fallout of Will Byers’ (Noah Schnapp) long-awaited, controversial coming out scene.

Stranger Things 5 episode 7 features Will coming out as gay to the group but the original draft featured a much more intimate scene before it was changed.

Stranger Things Season 5 ended with the show giving all the characters their happy endings as the sinister battle at Hawkins finally comes to a close.
